First established in 1928, Produttori Vini Manduria is the oldest wine cooperative in Puglia with 400 small grower members working around 900 hectares of vineyards. This means each farmer is able to give great care and attention to their land, and passing down the membership of the cooperative to the next generation when the time comes. The cooperative is known throughout the region for its exceptional Primitivo wines which showcase the excellence of the Puglian terroir and the talent of Leonardo Pinto who has been their consulting winemaker for over 20 years.

This Primitivo di Manduria is crafted from vines which are over 90 years old and are planted in the traditional bush vine style, requiring minimal pruning and helping the vine to survive the dry, challenging conditions. After the harvest the fruit is fermented in temperature-controlled tanks for three weeks and then transferred to French oak barrels for 24 months before bottling.

The rich, deep red hue is the first thing you’ll notice as you pour out a glass of this powerful red, followed by enchanting aromas of ripe plums, blackberries, and cassis. The first sip reveals a generous full body, silky smooth tannins and a long finish which is seasoned with spice, toast and hints of woodsmoke.
