Considered one of the most respected figures in California wine, winemaker Paul Hobbs founded his winery in 1991. Seven years later, he purchased the estate in Sebastopol, where he established his cellar. Today, the company produces premium wines from specific appellations and single vineyards, which are pure expressions of the terroir and acclaimed worldwide.
Pinot Noir grapes are selected from various vineyards in the Russian River Valley appellation, between the Russian River and the Mayacamas Mountains. Here, coastal breezes bring cool air, encouraging the formation of morning fog and creating a perfect microclimate for Pinot Noir. After manual harvesting, fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in small stainless steel tanks, and the finished wine ages for 9 months in a mix of new and neutral oak barrels.
Paul Hobbs Russian River Valley Pinot Noir has an intense, dark ruby color with purple hues. On the nose, it reveals a fruity aromatic profile with notes of pomegranate, blackberry, and small red berries, followed by hints of bergamot, Mediterranean herbs, and tea leaves. On the palate, it is elegant and harmonious, with a medium-full body and lively acidity. It is fresh and mineral with fine, well-integrated tannins and a delicious, fruity finish. Try it with roast pork loin or pan-fried lamb ribs.
