Founded by winemaker Linda Trotta in 2013 and acquired by Peter Buck's WX Brands group in 2017, Bread & Butter is a winery located in Napa Valley that produces classic California-style wines that combine simple, approachable character with high quality. Thanks to the great success of its wines, Bread & Butter was listed among the top 100 fastest-growing brands in 2018.

Merlot grapes come partly from California's warmer, inland regions and partly from the cooler coastal areas. This ensures the production of an extremely balanced wine, where the soft, fruity character is complemented by a refreshing acidity. After vinification, the finished wine rests in a mix of French and American oak, 40% of which is new, to enhance the smooth tannins and the spicy notes.

The result is a classic California Merlot, easy to drink and velvety, with a ripe and broad aromatic profile in which notes of plum and cherry intersperse with hints of spices and chocolate. On the palate, it is generous and rounded, juicy and easy to drink, with silky tannins and a well-balanced, subtle acidity. The finish is long and recalls notes of chocolate and vanilla. Try it with beef enchiladas, pasta with chorizo, or filet mignon with red berries sauce.
