Oxer Wines Suzzane 2022

Located in Laguardia, Oxer Wines is owned by Oxer Bastegieta, a young winemaker originally from the Basque country, who after his studies in enology decided to settle in Rioja. Here in the Spanish region famous for its red wines, Oxer cultivates almost century-old vineyards organically and with regenerative agriculture and produces unique wines with great aging potential, widely acclaimed by the public and critics.

Suzzane is a complex red wine produced with Garnacha grapes selected and hand-harvested from a vineyard of approximately 3 hectares located 580 meters above sea level, in Rioja Alta and planted in 1903 on clayey soils rich in iron. After spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the wine rests for 10 months in large barrels and then another 2 months in concrete.

The result is an elegant and fresh red with an intense aromatic profile that reveals fruity and floral notes and some spicy hints. On the palate, it has a medium body and soft texture with ripe, well-integrated tannins and good acidity. The finish is long and pleasant and recalls fruity notes. It is excellent with red meats or game birds.
