Poderi e Cantine Oddero is a winery in the Langhe with origins dating back to the end of the 18th century. Located in a small hamlet of La Morra, in the Piedmont province of Cuneo, the estate extends over approximately 35 hectares of land distributed in some of the best crus in the area and produces typical Piedmontese wines such as Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera, Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbaresco, and Barolo.
The Nebbiolo grapes come from a vineyard about 240 meters above sea level in Castiglione Falletto. The vines enjoy a soil rich in clay and limestone and a south-east exposure. After manual harvesting, fermentation lasts about 25 days and the wine is aged in barrels for 30 months and a further year in bottles before being released for sale.
The Barolo Villero of Oddero reveals a brilliant color with ruby tones and garnet reflections. Its aromatic profile is intense and layered with fragrant notes of violet and ripe red fruits, earthy hints, cocoa, leather, and licorice. On the palate, it is deep, complex, and concentrated with firm and evolving tannins and a balanced and well-integrated acidic vein. The finish is long and recalls sweet fruity notes. It is a wine that calls for red meat, especially stews or roasts. It also pairs well with game such as wild boar and venison.
