Ideally drink until 2020. Decanting time: Ideally 2-3 hours.
Rich crimson in colour. The deep, dark aromas of black stone fruits and vanilla meld beautifully in the full, warm palate that delivers rich, soft tannins and flavours of blueberry, chocolate and savory herbs. A fruit-forward wine, this Merlot is very smooth and easy to drink. Clean lines and simplicity are the strengths of the down-to-earth elegance of this wine, and the sweeter finish provides a delightful ending that will entice you to want to pour yourself another glass.
There is a richness that will delight a wider range of palates than a Merlot typically does, and is meant to be a versatile offering that all your friends will enjoy, in the self-proclaimed “Goode-and-Groovy” spirit of this wine.
Sourced from a variety of mature, quality vineyards along the North Coast, this Merlot is blended with 3% Cabernet Sauvignon to promote a well-balanced, grounded wine that knows how to party. 2012 was a particularly incredible year with perfect weather that allowed the grapes to remain on the vines until full maturity, resulting in a distinct fullness, warmth and depth--arguably more so than Murphy Goode’s other vintages.
Aged for seven months in 44% French and 30% American oak barriques (10% new).
This is a great grilling wine that pairs well with a lot of different BBQed meats, including lamb. A favourite wine that is sure to pair well with your favourite summer dish. Decant for as many hours as you have, to experience this wine’s fuller flavours, although this is a wine that is still quite enjoyable poured right from the bottle.
