Nebbiolo
Mario Giribaldi Conca d'Oro Nebbiolo d'Alba 2018
Cellar for up to 7 years. No need to decant before serving.
The Giribaldi family have been working this land for four generations, ever since the family winery was founded in 1886 by their ancestor Giovanni Giribaldi. Today there are ten family members currently involved in running the business, helping to farm 30 hectares of vines scattered across the most prized sub-regions in the Langhe region. Sustainability and harmony with the natural environment are very important to the family, which is why their vineyards have been certified as organic since 2004.
The fruit for this stunning red come from the family’s 1.68 hectare “Conca d’Oro” vineyard which is set on hilly terrain at 380 metres above sea level. The south-facing vineyard enjoys plenty of summer sunshine as well as well-draining stony calcareous soils which bring a bright streak of minerality to the wines made from these vines.
The Nebbiolo vines are harvested at optimum ripeness and then vinified in stainless steel tanks before being transferred to oak barrels for a period of ageing. Prior to release the wine is allowed to rest in the bottle for another 5 months, creating a vibrant yet well-balanced Nebbiolo that is bursting with luscious dark berries and sweet spice on a backbone of firm tannins and a well-developed structure.
