One of the top wineries in Apulia in southern Italy, Luccarelli draws inspiration from the three elemental forces that characterise the Mediterranean region: sun, sea and passion. The winery has invested heavily recently in the latest winemaking technology to produce the finest wines possible, and also works with talented young winemakers who are hugely dedicated to their chosen craft.

Their Primitivo di Manduria is made from top quality estate grapes which are fermented in French and American oak barrels for 8-10 months. Primitivo is also known as Zinfandel in other parts of the world, like California, and this intense, concentrated bottling is reminiscent of its American cousins and is sure to please lovers of larger-than-life reds.

Powerful and full-bodied, the wine opens with an intense dark fruit nose which is seasoned with cigar box spice and dried herb aromas. The first sip reveals a rich velvety texture, smooth tannins and a long finish peppered with spice and dried fruit. There is a well-built structure which will respond well to additional cellaring over the next 5-6 years or so. A fantastic partner for hearty red meat dishes like steak or beef stews.
