Korta Katarina was founded by Americans Lee and Penny Anderson who first fell in love with Croatia’s gorgeous Dalmatian coast while assisting with humanitarian aid efforts in the aftermath of the devastating Yugoslav wars. They decided to start their own winery on the Peljesac Peninsula close to the small town of Orebic by purchasing small plots of top quality vines.
Over the years the Andersons have built a reputation for working with classic Croatian grape varieties like Plavac Mali which are little-known outside of Croatia. This special Winemaker’s Selection is made with 100% Plavac Mali grapes from the estate’s vineyards in the Dingac and Postup regions of the Peljesac Peninsula.
Conditions here are perfect for creating intensely-flavoured red wines with a remarkable concentration of aromas and flavours thanks to the breezy coastal location, abundant sunshine and well-draining hillsides. The Winemaker’s Selection showcases the very best grapes from the estate, offering vibrant notes of plums, cherries, dark berries, and hints of leather and sage from the bottle ageing. The firm structure makes this a great addition to your cellar for extended ageing.
