Located in the northeast of Austria, and more precisely in the Wachau wine region, the Knoll winery is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious in the country. Emmerich Knoll and his son Emmerich Junior personally take care of the estate that extends over about 15 hectares, distributed in the Wachau and Kremstal valleys, in the renowned locations of Schütt, Loibenberg, Kellerberg, Kreutles, and Pfaffenberg, where Gruner Veltliner and Riesling occupy about 90% of the vineyards.

The Gruner Veltliner grapes are sourced from the plain facing the Loibner mountain, on alluvial soils of a sandy and gravelly nature. After fermentation, the wine remains on the lees for about 5 months.

Gruner Veltliner Steinfelder is a fresh and vibrant wine with a pale yellow color and intense greenish reflections. Its aromatic profile is deliciously fragrant with notes of green apple, citrus, and pear, followed by floral hints. On the palate, it is lean and fruity, light and lively with a pronounced acidic streak and a crisp character. The finish is long and citrusy. It makes a great aperitif for a sunny summer afternoon and it is excellent with Cantonese rice, chicken curry, and asparagus risotto.
