Located in Napa Valley with winery facilities both in Rutherford and St Helena, Hall Wines was founded in 2003 by Kathryn Walt Hall and her husband Craig. The company, which specializes in Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines, owns about 200 hectares of vineyards from which it obtains about half of the grapes used. The other half is instead sourced from various growers in Napa.
Considered one of the most important producers in the region, Hall Wines is widely known for its Cabernet Sauvignon, which is considered their flagship wine. The grapes come primarily from the Sacrashe vineyard (near the Rutherford location) with additions from other mountain vineyards. The finished wine is left to rest in French oak for 25 months.
The wine has a deep color with dark ruby tones and some almost purplish reflections. The aromatic profile is intense and broad with aromas of dark berries, followed by earthy notes, and light hints of spices and violets. On the palate, it is round and rich, smooth and elegant. It has a full body, velvety tannins, and a good acid vein. The finish is long, warm, and persistent and recalls intense fruity notes. Try it with a tasty red meat or game stew.
