Saperavi
Gurashvili's Saperavi Qvevri 2018
Cellar up to 5 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour before serving.
The Gurashvili vineyards are located in the village of Tibaani in the Sighnaghi district, in the Kakheti region, the most important wine region of Georgia in quantitative, qualitative and also historical terms. Nearly three-quarters of the country's wine grapes are grown here, on land that has been used for viticulture for thousands of years. The Kakheti region is home to some of the oldest human dwellings in the entire Caucasus region, and archaeological finds suggest that wine has been produced there for several thousand years. The company's portfolio includes dry, white and red wines made from light and dark grapes.
Following a traditional regional method, the must and the skins of the grapes are completely fermented and macerated for 5 months in Qvevri (underground terracotta pot), a process that gives the wine a deep and full tannic taste and structure.
This wine is the pure expression of the Saperavi grape, with typical aromas of blackberry, cherry, mocha, and spices. The juicy tannins and well-balanced acidity integrate perfectly with the flavors of ripe fruit. On the palate it is dense, and round, with a long finish. It works very well with steak, lamb skewers, and burgers.
