Originally founded in 1886 by the Mexican aristocrat Ángel Gómez de Arteche, in the lower part of Haro, in Rioja, the Gómez Cruzado winery has had several owners over the years including the brothers Jesús and Agustín Gómez Cruzado who gave it the name that the company still carries today. Acquired by the Baños family at the beginning of the new century, the winery underwent a complete transformation of its facilities in 2005, which included the incorporation of the most advanced technology with the techniques necessary to control fermentation, hygiene of the materials and careful aging in new and semi-new woods.
Pancrudo is a wine produced with Garnacha grapes harvested from eighty-year-old shrub-grown vineyards in the municipality of Badarán, in the Upper Najerilla area, 650 meters above sea level, on reddish clayey-ferrous soil. extreme compared to the rest of Rioja Alta, it produces wines of great freshness, fruity character, and good acidity.
