Clare JC is a fresh, vibrant red wine with a light ruby colour and aromas of red berries, rose petals, liquorice, and a touch of spice. It transports the drinker back to the early days of Piedmont winemaking when Nebbiolo was crafted in a more youthful style. It is a perfect choice for those who want a more approachable taste of this famously austere grape.

Founded in 1972 by Aldo Vajra, but named after his father, Giuseppe Domenico, G.D. Vajra was one of the first wineries in Piedmont to go fully organic. The Vajra family have been involved in the Piedmont wine trade for over two centuries, but it wasn’t until the 1920s that they acquired their own vineyards. These days, Aldo and company farm their grapes from 60 hectares, spanning the region’s most famous locations.

Clare JC is a light- to medium-bodied wine, with flavours of red hedgerow berries, raspberry, cranberry, and orange zest, supported by bright acidity and gentle tannins. Lively and youthful are the operative words for this wine - it even exhibits a slight fizz in the mouth. It is perfect for pairing with pasta dishes, charcuterie, and roasted poultry.
