Primitivo
Feudi Salentini 125 Primitivo Biologico 2019
Cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant before serving.
Cosimo and Maria Teresa Varvaglione are the third generation of their family to run the Feudi Salentini estate which is set in the idyllic Italian region of Salento. Set close to the Mediterranean sea and surrounded by olive groves, the estate enjoys a warm climate with ample sunshine which produces perfectly ripe grapes. Inspired by the history of the estate and the local landscape, Cosimo and Maria strive to produce top quality wines using both traditional methods and cutting-edge modern technology.
The grapes for this wine are grown organically in the province of Taranto and carefully selected to ensure only good quality fruit goes into the bottle. The grapes are macerated and fermented in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve varietal typicity and freshness before being transferred to French oak casks for ageing.
Vibrant cassis, cherry and plum define the nose while the first sip reveals a velvety smooth texture, ample ripe tannins and a robust full body. The intense dark fruit flavours make this a great partner for red meat dishes like steak or hearty vegetable dishes like aubergine parmigiana. It can also be cellared for a few more years if desired.
