With its 60 hectares of vineyards, Familia Deicas is an acclaimed Uruguayan winery located in Progreso. The company, under the oenological guidance of Santiago Deicas, the third generation of the family, has carried out investigations and studies on the Albarino vine and the vineyards close to the Atlantic coast, for 10 years.

The Familia Deicas Atlantico Sur Albarino wine is produced exclusively with Albarino grapes, coming from the vineyards of Garzón and Juanicó, located in the coastal strip, about 30 km from the ocean. Here the vines benefit from lower temperatures and sea breezes which guarantee excellent freshness, good aromatic intensity, and a marked saline streak in the wines. The grapes are harvested separately and at different degrees of ripeness to achieve greater complexity. After maceration and fermentation, the wines are blended and left in the tank on the lees.

The result is a fresh wine with marked aromas of citrus fruits and white flowers and then stone fruit and some hints of melon. On the palate it is lively and mineral, fresh and with a strong acidic streak. The finish is long and recalls a hint of saltiness. It is an ideal wine to enjoy as an aperitif with finger foods but it is also perfect with fish and seafood.
