Estate Argyros Cuvee Nykteri 2019

Founded in 1903 by Georgios Argyros, the Argyros Estate is a family-run winery located on the island of Santorini in Greece. Since 1974, the company has been led by Yiannis Argyros who played a key role in expanding the estate's vineyards and developing the potential of the local Assyrtiko grape, demonstrating its aging capabilities. The vineyards extend over approximately 26 hectares of land characterized by the typical black volcanic soil of the island. Estate Argyros produces white, red, and sweet wines from indigenous grape varieties.

Cuvée Nykteri is a wine made with 100% Assyrtiko grapes harvested when fully ripe from very old vineyards (more than 150 years of age) and with low yields, located in Pyrgos and Megalochori. After fermentation in French oak barriques, the wine is aged for twelve months in barriques on fine lees and for a further twelve months in steel. The result is a powerful and surprising wine with fantastic aging potential.

The wine has a golden yellow color and fresh and intense aromas of citrus and stone fruit followed by herbaceous and mineral notes. On the palate, it is full, rich, and mineral, with light saline notes and refreshing acidity. It is a wine with a strong but very smooth character that pairs deliciously with octopus, clams, and all seafood.
