Eastern Peake Vineyard is an organic winery owned by the Latta family, located in Ballarat in the Victoria wine region of South Australia. The wines strongly reflect the approach of the talented vigneron Owen Latta who favors slower pace and old world style wines, less fruity and with a stronger and more structured character.
Intrinsic Pinot Noir is made with grapes from vines between 27 and 40 years old, planted on gray clay and volcanic soils on basalt, located at approximately 430 m above sea level. As with all wines from Eastern Peake, after the harvest, fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. The wine then rests for approximately 6 months in 228 liter barriques before bottling.
The wine has a bright color with purple-red tones. On the nose, it reveals a broad and intense aromatic profile with notes of sour cherry, raspberry, and blackberry, followed by hints of mint and sage leaves. On the palate, it is fresh and linear. It has a marked acidity and firm tannins. It is a fresh and lively wine with an elegant and slightly spicy finish. IT works beautifully with duck, game birds, and pork.
