Founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, Duckhorn Vineyards is one of Napa Valley's most renowned and prominent wineries. The company today extends over almost 100 hectares of vineyards in different areas of the Napa Valley such as Howell Mountain, Carneros, Yountville, Rutherford, and St. Helena. The property is divided into over 200 parcels that are harvested and vinified separately.
The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot with small additions of Cabernet Franc. The grapes are selected and harvested from the Patzimaro Vineyard, located in the St. Helena appellation of Napa Valley, at the base of Spring Mountain. Here the vines enjoy warm temperatures during the day and a good temperature range at night. The result is therefore a very expressive wine, with an excellent concentration of fruit and a well-balanced acidity. After fermentation, the wine rests in French oak.
The Duckhorn Patzimaro Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a full and complex wine. The aromatic profile reveals the typical Cabernet Sauvignon notes of cassis and olives. There are also hints of ripe blackberries and chocolate and earthy notes. On the palate, the wine is round, dense, and well-balanced with firm tannins and a good acid vein. It is the ideal wine for beef brisket or with a juicy meat barbecue.
