The Tollot-Beaut family have deep roots in the village of Chorey-lès-Beaune, with parts of the family cellar dating back 250 years. The family have grown grapes here since the 1880s when François Tollot first began to plant vines here. By the 1920s the family took the pioneering decision to bottle and sell their own wines, exporting them as far as the United States. This innovative legacy lives on today with cousins Nathalie, Jean-Paul and Olivier Tollot who skilfully combine tradition with modern winemaking techniques.
In total the Tollots have 24 hectares in the Chorey-lès-Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Beaune and Aloxe-Corton appellations. Aloxe-Corton sits right at the foot of the legendary hill of Corton, and has a reputation for great value Burgundy that punches above its pricetag. This classic example is made with top quality fruit from vines planted between 1973 and 1993. After vinification the young wine is matured in oak barrels for 18 months.
Reminiscent of lofty Grand Crus from further up the hill, the Tollot-Beaut Aloxe-Corton combines a magnificent structure, generous full body and complex flavour profile. Hints of wild strawberry and crushed berries dominate on the nose, while the first sip reveals a tight core of ripe dark fruit. It’s a great match for grilled duck breast, roasted game meats, or rich risottos with porcini mushrooms or truffles.
