Les Grèves is a Premier Cru vineyard, overlooking the picturesque town of Beaune from. The wine opens up with a bouquet of ripe red fruits - complex raspberry notes mingle with strawberry and earthy forest floor, while a medley of spice lingers in the background. It is classic Burgundy, from one of the most well-respected winemakers in the region.
Domaine des Clos was founded in 1995, by Grégoire, a member of the famed Bichot family. It spans six hectares of vineyards in all, encompassing Grand and Premier Crus in Beaune and Chablis. However, the winery itself is located in the green rolling fields of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, where the wines are produced using minimal intervention methods.
On the palate, Les Grèves reflects the nose, with complex red fruit scents, and a deep, crisp mouthfeel. As it opens up, you can detect a strong spicy side, with hints of vanilla, caraway, and cinnamon mingling with notes of smoke and wet stone minerality. It was aged in oak barrels, adding a refined structure that is typical of Beaune. Consider pairing Les Grèves with salmon or tuna steak, beef bourguignon, or mature cheese.
