Enjoy in 2018 through 2026 and beyond. Decant up to 2 hours.
This wine has been talked about for years by the critics, receiving the Bronze Medal in the Decanter World Wine Awards in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
It is an intense, near-opaque red with inky indigo peeking throughout. Notes of blackcurrant, ripe black fruit, leather, licorice, and spice with a hint of chocolate fill the olfactory. This red has perfect, integrated tannins and gorgeous acidity. Blueberry, black fruit compote, candied fruit, wisps of chocolate, toasted vanilla, and roasted hazelnut are layered well, presenting themselves as the perfect background for the long aromatic finish that lingers with blueberry, anise, and toasted vanilla.
Enjoy this Syrah with a slight chill, at 18°C. It is bold and should be drunk with bold food. Grilled or stewed meat, wild game, lasagna and medium – to – long – aged cheeses all pair nicely with this red wine.
Klanis Syrah is elaborated from fruit picked by hand in late September. The grapes are packed into small containers and transported to the cellars where they are placed on a vibrating table and picked over again, to ensure only the best selections for the wine. After maceration and fermenting, the wine is transferred into French oak barrels for a 16-month maturation period. The wine is also aged for a further 8 – 10 months in the bottle before it is released to sell.
