A very accessible wine that is equally full of character. Only produced with the best vintages. An enjoyable, elegant expression even in its youth, although this wine will also keep well for many years, as is to be expected from a good Nebbiolo.
The ancient vinemaking process is still used, with the grapes fermenting in the sun after harvest for a few days, which accentuates the fruity, aromatic nature of the varietal. Afterwards, malolactic fementation occurs followed by aging for a number of months. The unique Valtellina winemaking tradition is what the full, floral bouquet is accredited to, and a fresh, young nose can be enjoyed within months of the wine’s bottling.
Depending on how long it has been aged, the wine can be served with an array of different dishes. Especially good as a first course wine with food that offers complex, spicy flavours. Serve between 18 and 20 degrees celsius.
Garnet colour typical of the Nebbiolo varietal, with some shiny purple hues. A full, elegant bouquet of blackberry, cassis and raspberry with hints of pepper and exotic spices is exceptionally fragrant leading seamlessly to fruity, juicy flavours of white raspberries, red plum and cherries. Smooth, bright mouthfeel with excellent complexity and well-integrated, recognizable tannins with a powdery weight. This wine offers a gentle structure and good acidity which carries a subtle, but remarkable line through to its long, pleasant finish. A highly drinkable, enjoyable wine that pairs well with hard cheeses, white meats and pasta.
