Founded by David Hohnen in 1985 in the Marlborough region of New Zealand, the Cloudy Bay winery is located in a landscape of great beauty between the Pacific Ocean and the Richmond Range, at the entrance to the homonymous bay. Its wines, produced with the utmost respect for the environment, are the distinctive expression of a great terroir. The vineyards are located for the most part in Marlborough, which is the most important wine area in New Zealand for Sauvignon Blanc.
Cloudy Bay Te Koko is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc, obtained from a selection of grapes from six individual plots on gravelly and sandy soils, and vinified and aged in French oak barrels.
In the glass, the Sauvignon Blanc Te Koko shows a bright straw yellow color. On the nose, it reveals the decisive aromatic profile typical of Sauvignon Blanc, with perfumes of apple, citrus and tropical fruit, and some honey notes. In the mouth, the wine is dry and fresh with gentle toasted and honeyed notes and good persistence. It is a wine that lends itself to many combinations with food, including vegetarian quiches and first courses based on seafood, such as spaghetti with clams. Serve it well chilled at 10/12 °C.
A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!
