Founded in Oakley, California, in 1982 by Fred Cline, the Cline Family Cellars offers a wide range of wines from international varietals at an excellent quality/price ratio. In the late 1980s, the headquarters moved to Sonoma-Carneros, where the family acquired a 350-acre farm. The winemaking operations are led by talented winemakers Tom Gendall and Katie Hoggins.
The Viognier grapes, a white variety native to the Rhone Valley in France, are sourced from estate vineyards and selected winemakers in the county along the North Coast. The specific provenance allows for the production of wines that best reflect the terroir and winemaking traditions of the denomination. The decision to avoid the use of oak ensures the pure expression of the most aromatic, fruity, and fresh character of this grape.
Cline North Coast Viognier is a lively and fragrant wine that reveals an intense and fruity aromatic profile with notes of peach, apricot, pineapple, and grapefruit, followed by hints of white flowers. On the palate, it is fresh and juicy, with a creamy texture and a medium body. It has a refreshing and balanced acidity with a light, savory edge. The finish is long and rich, with fruity notes. It pairs well with Thai cuisine, pork tenderloin in apple sauce, white meat, and medium-aged cheeses.
