Located in the Pomerol area, Chateau Le Bon Pasteur was founded in 1920 by Joseph and Hermine Dupuy who then passed it on to their children Serge and Geneviève Rolland. In 1978 the estate came under the leadership of the brothers Michel and Dany Rolland. Today the estate, which has approximately 6.6 hectares of vineyards spread across 23 plots, is owned by the Goldin group, led by Sutong Pan.
The wine is a mostly Merlot blend with additions of Cabernet Franc. The grapes come from vineyards managed with sustainable agriculture, which have an average age of around 40 years. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels and the finished wine is then matured for 15-18 months.
Chateau Le Bon Pasteur is a balanced and elegant wine that reveals fantastic aging capacity. The color is dense and deep with lively purple reflections. Its aromatic profile is rich and fragrant with refined notes of dark fruits and flowers and light spicy hints. On the palate, it is delicious, fresh, and soft with velvety and well-integrated tannins. It reveals a pleasant fruity concentration and a long, harmonious finish. Try it with a juicy steak or leave it in the cellar for a couple of decades.
