Chateau La Nerthe is one of the most prestigious wineries in the Chateauneuf area. The estate, which extends over 92 hectares, cultivated organically, has been owned by the Richard family since 1985, but has a long history and tradition and its wines were already famous at the end of the 1700s.
Les Cassagnes Côtes du Rhône Blanc is a blend of Roussanne, Grenache blanc, Marsanne, and Viognier. The grapes are harvested manually from vines planted on clay-limestone soils dotted with the famous pebbles of the Rhone Valley. The vineyards enjoy a microclimate that is particularly favorable for the production of white wines, thanks to the cool nights which favor the development of a good acid streak. The different grapes are vinified separately, Roussanne in wood and the others in steel, and then left to mature on the yeasts before blending and bottling.
The wine reveals a color with golden yellow tones and some greenish reflections. Its aromatic profile is intense and fresh with citrus and white flower notes, hints of almonds, and a light mineral vein. On the palate, it is fresh and tasty, tonic and fruity. There is a marked acid vein and good minerality. The finish is long and refreshing. Excellent as an aperitif, with Provencal cod, scallop risotto, and goat cheese.
