Located in the Napareuli winemaking microzone, Château Buera is a Georgian winery that owns approximately 5 hectares of vineyards. Viticulture here dates back approximately 8,000 years, as recent archaeological discoveries testify, and wine has always been part of the local culture and family traditions. The area's unique microclimate, with the Greater Caucasus Mountains protecting it from cold northern air currents and the warming influences of the Black Sea, combined with alluvial and rocky soils, create ideal conditions for quality viticulture.
Saperavi grapes come from the estate's vineyards and are harvested and selected manually before fermentation. The finished wine then rests in oak barrels for over a year before bottling and a further 18 months of aging.
The result is a wine with an intense, dark ruby red color and some garnet highlights. On the nose, the wine reveals a broad and ripe aromatic profile with notes of berries such as blackberry and blackcurrant, floral and herbal hints, and a background of toasted spices and tobacco leaves. On the palate, it is juicy and complex, rounded and concentrated with a fresh acidity and smooth tannins. The finish is very long and evokes subtle chocolate notes. Try it with wild boar stew.
