Founded in 2004 by Norwegian entrepreneurs Carrie and Alex Vik, Viña Vik is a Chilean winery located in the Cachapoal Valley. After gaining international attention for its extraordinary wines, the company decided to expand its portfolio and in 2022, it announced the release of VIK La Piu Belle Champagne, made from the finest grapes sourced in the Champagne DO area of Ay. The wine is part of the La Piu Belle line, a range created as a tribute to the art of winemaking. The unique label, created by artist Elena Trailina, depicts a woman with intricate gold details.
Obtained from 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, sourced from the best Crus in the Côte de Blancs, vinified with the traditional Champenoise method, and blended in France, VIK La Piu Belle is a rare and sophisticated dry cuvée, aged for 12 years in the traditional Champagne cellars, dug out of the chalk. The Chardonnay grapes, harvested earlier, add to the blend a fresh minerality while the Pinot Noir grapes, characterized by a high aromatic concentration, produce a rich and complex wine showing perfect maturity.
Its color is bright gold. On the nose, it reveals a complex and persistent bouquet made of citrus, quince, Mirabelle, plum, and hazelnut aromas with a light mineral finish. On the palate, it is lively, fresh, expressive, and full of character, with an elegant perlage and well-balanced acidity. The finish reveals the characteristic minerality of its terroir. It pairs deliciously with rich fish like salmon or tuna, or with shellfish, but it also makes a perfect aperitif on its own.
