The Thienot Champagne house is located in a small village near Reims in the Marne department. Founded in 1985, the company quickly achieved success among the public and critics and is now considered one of the most prestigious companies in the area. The founder, Alain Thienot is supported by his sons Stanislas and Garance.
The Cuvée Alain Thienot, produced only in exceptional years, is a blend of mostly Chardonnay with additions of Pinot Noir (40% from Grands Crus vineyards and 30% from Premiers Crus) and is a tribute to the founder of this young and promising Champagne house. The finished wine ages for 12 years in the company's cellars.
This surprising champagne has a bright color with golden tones embellished by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, it reveals a broad and seductive aromatic profile, with notes of lemon and ripe white fruit, hints of brioche and bread crust, toasted almond and walnut, and some buttery nuances. On the palate, it is rich and elegant, with a full structure and a creamy consistency. It is balanced and has a marked mineral vein. The finish is long and refreshing. It pairs splendidly with shellfish and white fish but is also excellent with charcuterie.
