Based in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims, Champagne Soutiran carefully select only the finest grapes from their own vineyards and nearby grapegrowers to craft their exquisite Champagnes. Here delicate notes of gingerbread, pear and dried toasted bread leap out of the flute, while nearly six years of ageing in the cellar has added a luxurious richness and complexity to the palate. Baked apple, honey and brioche flavours combine harmoniously with lemon zest, almonds and hints of jasmine.
Thanks to the fuller body and impressive depth of flavour, this Champagne shines when paired with heavy fish dishes like pan-fried tuna steak or a South Indian fish curry.
Founded in the 1950s by Gérard Soutiran, the house is still owned by the same family today with Gérard’s granddaughter Valérie and her husband Patrick responsible for running the business. The Soutiran family believe that creating authentic Champagnes takes time so they allow their bottles to sleep in their cellar for at least five to eight years to reach full maturity.
Production of this sumptuous Grand Cru Champagne is limited to just eight thousand bottles each year. The assemblage consists of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay with around 10% coming from reserve wines to ensure loyalty to the house style. This is a robust Champagne which will continue to grow in beauty if cellared up until 2028.
