Champagne Pommery Grand Cru Brut 2008
Drink now or cellar for up to 15 years. Serve well chilled.
Champagne Pommery is one of the finest houses in the region thanks to Louise Pommery who converted her husband’s business to Champagne production in 1874 after his death. Louise also became the first to introduce the Brut style to Champange, pioneering the Brut Royal which was soon adopted by all other producers.
Pommery’s Grand Cru Brut is a magnificent Champagne crafted from carefully selected fruit from seven Grand Cru sites in the Cotes de Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. After vinification the bottles are left to mature on the lees in Pommery’s 18km of cellars for four years before they are disgorged and bottled. This lengthy ageing process helps to create a rich, intense style of Champagne that is immediately recognisable as Pommery.
In the glass there’s a delicate stream of tiny bubbles and an attractive light golden hue complemented by hints of toasted brioche, butter, vanilla spice, and zingy citrus. As soon as you take a sip you’ll notice the luscious stone fruit flavours, smooth bubbles, and long, spiced finish which makes this a great bottle to keep in the cellar for a few more years if desired.
