The Grand Cru Rosé from Pierre Moncuit is a thrilling combination of two terroirs: Mesnil-sur-Oger, where Chardonnay (88%) thrives, and Ambonnay, the home of the ripe Pinot Noir grapes (12%) that give this wine its colour. It starts off with an enticing bouquet of raspberry, strawberry, lemon zest, and fresh minerality.
The Moncuit family can trace their lineage back to Alex Moncuit, who first purchased land in the Mesnil-sur-Oger region. However, it was Pierre Moncuit who first began to sell wine under the family name, in 1928. To this day, the family still own 15 hectares of the Grand Cru commune, and another 5 in Sézanne, all of which are worked by the green fingers of a fourth generation of Moncuit winemakers.
The Grand Cru Brut Rosé is notable for its freshness, upholding the pure, traditional values of the Côte des Blancs. It comes alive on the palate, with notes of tart red fruit, citrus, chalk, yeast, and a delightful mousse-like mouthfeel. The grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks and matured for 3 years in the bottle before being released. This is a fresh, food-friendly Rosé, perfect for pairing with soft cheeses, like Camembert, roasted chicken, or appetisers.
