This is an exciting and incredibly dry Champagne, popping with notes of citrus and orchard fruits, alongside scents of freshly cut grass, earth, and lavender. It is crafted from 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, perfected over 6 years of ageing on the lees. The fruits were harvested from a single Grand Cru vineyard – the one that all of Champagne Mailly’s wines come from.

In 1929, this Champagne house was born out of a union between 24 different growers in Mailly, making it one of the oldest cooperatives in the region. A few years later, they dug the winery’s first cellar by hand, and began brewing and selling wines under the Mailly name. Today, it is still a stunning representation of the region, which is notable for the impeccable quality of its red grapes.

On the palate, Millesime explodes into notes of strawberries and cream, lemon zest, brioche, and gooseberry. It is firm and deeply acidic, with an extremely low dosage of added sugar. Further Pinot Noir hints emerge on the finish, with whiffs of smoke and mushroom. This Champagne is perfect for pairing with turkey, battered mushrooms, or premium seafood such as caviar.
