Champagne Jacquesson has gone from strength to strength in recent years and is frequently ranked among Champagne’s top producers. The house is headquartered in Dizy with vineyards in two main areas, the Grande Vallée de la Marne and in the Côte des Blancs, which include Grand Cru plots in Aÿ, Avize and Oiry. Heading up the business are the Chiquet brothers who follow a philosophy of minimal dosage coupled with extended lees ageing to produce powerful and refined Champagnes that rival the region’s very finest.
The Jacquesson Cuvee 746 is a fantastic non-vintage Extra Brut Champagne crafted from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes with a low dosage of just 1.5 grammes per litre. Grapes are sourced from Jacquesson’s prime vineyards in the Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs and the finalised cuvee is aged on the lees in the bottle for three years before disgorging and release to the market.
On the nose there are uplifting notes of lemon zest, grapefruit and subtle toasted wood while the first sip reveals a crisp acidity, medium body and delicate mousse from the fine bubbles. An ideal partner for seafood and fish dishes, this dry Champagne also makes a great aperitif to prepare the palate before a special dinner or family celebration.
