The Rodez family has a long winemaking tradition that dates back 3 centuries and 9 generations. Today the company, located in the charming village of Ambonnay, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims wine area, is managed by Eric Rodez with his wife Martine and their son Mickael. The Maison owns approximately 6 hectares of vineyards (of which 4 for Pinot Noir and 2 for Chardonnay) cultivated according to organic and biodynamic principles.
This is a Grand Cru Champagne made with a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes selected and harvested in the Ambonnay area. The Cuvée is made with 40-50% reserve wine (from 4-5 different vintages). Some of the wines are vinified in small oak barrels, a characteristic that is somewhat of a signature of this Champagne House.
Cuvee des Crayeres is a brilliant golden yellow wine with a fine and elegant perlage. Its aromatic profile is fresh and fragrant and reveals notes of orange blossom, followed by aromas of small red fruits, stone fruit and mineral nuances. On the palate, it is soft and generous, with a pleasant effervescence and notes of wild strawberries. It has a refreshing acidity and a long finish that recalls light notes of vanilla. It is rich and elegant and well balanced by a strong mineral note. Try it with smoked trout!
