Founded in 1868 by spouses Victor Canard and Léonie Duchêne, the Maison Canard-Duchêne is located in one of the most prestigious areas of Champagne, in the heart of the Reims Mountain Natural Park, and more specifically in the town of Ludes. Here the vines benefit from a dominant situation over the Marne Valley and a unique terroir with soils composed of chalk, clay, sand, and limestone. Thanks to the enormous prestige acquired over time and the recognition of the imperial house of Moscow, the label of this prestigious Maison has depicted, since the end of the 19th century, a crowned two-headed eagle, a symbol of the Russian imperial family.
A classic blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay, Cuvée Léonie is a tribute to the founder of the Maison.
The Cuvee Leonie Brut has a bright color with golden yellow tones. The perlage is fine and persistent. Its aromatic profile is fresh and lively with notes of yellow and exotic fruits, bread crust, and floral hints. On the palate, the wine has a pronounced acidity, a medium, lean body, and hints of tropical fruit. The finish is persistent and recalls slightly spicy notes. It can be a refined aperitif in combination with fried appetizers or cured meats, but it also goes well with seafood.
