This charming pink Champagne is dominated by exquisite Chardonnay grapes sourced from the house’s vines planted in the Grand Cru village of Chouilly which give an intense vibrancy and bright citrus and apple notes. Balance is provided by a small proportion of Pinot Noir from Premier Cru plots in Bisseuil which contribute hints of strawberry, red cherry, and kirsch. 20% of the wine is aged in oak barrels, adding an agreeable creaminess to the texture and subtle brioche and almond touches on the palate.
The house was founded by Armand-Raphaël Graser in 1920 and has been in the family ever since. Armand-Raphaël moved to Champagne to Alsace during the First World War and wisely decided to give his new project a thoroughly French name by combining “Lenoble” with the initials of his forename.
Brother and sister team Anne and Antoine Malassagne have been running Champagne AR Lenoble since 1993 when they inherited the property from their father. Since then the duo have succeeded in transforming the estate into one of Champagne’s most impressive independent producers. As yet the house is not well-known outside of the region which means their Champagnes offer exceptional value for money when compared with their more famous neighbours.
