Located in the small village of Sacy, between Reims and Epernay, in the heart of the Champagne region, the Maison Champagne André Chemin was founded in the 1940s by André Chamin and his wife Micheline, grandparents of the current owner Sébastian. The company which today produces about 55,000 bottles, owns more than 6 hectares of vineyards on the prestigious terroir of the Montagne de Reims, in an area classified as Premier Cru. The Maison André Chemin produces an interesting range of Champagnes which includes the Entre Terre et Mer box set, made of two identical vintages, one of which matured in the cellar and one on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean for 12 months, at a constant temperature and in complete darkness.
Champagne André Chemin Premier Cru Millesime Brut 2012 has a special label that shows the profile picture of the daughter of the current owners Eva and Sebastian, born exactly in 2012. This Champagne is produced with a majority of Pinot Noir and a third of Chardonnay, without malolactic fermentation to guarantee lively freshness over time and favor its aging potential.
This splendid Champagne reveals intense aromas of yellow fruit and stone fruit, light notes of brioche, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is round with a fine effervescence and a marked acidity. The finish is pleasant and long and recalls mineral notes. Try it with lobster or crab.
A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!
