Castello di Verduno is a winery with a very ancient history. Its construction dates back to the beginning of the 16th century. In 1838, the Castle was purchased by King Carlo Alberto who entrusted the management of the cellar to the well-known oenologist General Carlo Staglieno, starting to lay the foundations of Barolo wine as we know it today. Since 1909, the Castle has been owned by the Burlotto family, and today the company owns vineyards on the hills of Barbaresco and Verduno, producing both Barolo and Barbaresco wines.
The Nebbiolo grapes are selected from vineyards of different parcels and harvested manually. The wine is aged for approximately 30 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, and then left for 2 months in steel. After bottling, the wine rests for another 24 months in the cellar.
Barolo Castello di Verduno is a wine that reflects the winemaking traditions of the area and the typical qualitative characteristics of its terroir. Its color is red, with bright ruby tones. Its aromatic profile is inebriating and elegant with aromas of red undergrowth fruits, floral and balsamic notes, and nuances of spices and aromatic herbs. In the mouth, it is lively and fresh with a good concentration of fruit and well-integrated tannins. It is a Barolo that can be enjoyed right now, or left in the cellar for a few years. Perfect with game, and pasta with meat sauce.
