Negretti Barolo Mirau 2021

Founded in 2002, the Negretti winery is a family-run business located in La Morra in the province of Cuneo and managed by Ezio and Massimo Negretti. The two brothers come from a family that boasts four generations of winemakers, and after completing their studies, they decided to dedicate themselves to producing their own wines. The estate's vineyards span approximately 13 hectares, cultivated with great dedication and respect for the land and its traditions.

This bold and characterful Barolo is produced with Nebbiolo grapes from the Rive and Bettolotti vineyards, both located in La Morra. The Rive vineyard, planted in 1980, enjoys a southeast exposure and an altitude of 230-260 meters. The Bettolotti vineyard, planted in 1990, also enjoys a southeast exposure and an altitude of 230-270 meters. After harvesting and undergoing temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, the finished wine is aged for two years in large Swiss oak barrels.

In the glass, Barolo Mirau reveals an intense, dark amaranth color with purple highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and complex, with notes of dark berry interspersed with spices, licorice, and sandalwood. On the palate, it is powerful, seductive, rich, and concentrated. It has firm, austere tannins and a long, spicy, and elegant finish. Leave it in the cellar for a couple of decades, or try it now with game goulash or venison stew.
