Casanova Di Neri Irrosso 2016
Cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant before serving.
Casanova Di Neri was founded by Giovanni Neri in 1971 and has quickly gained a reputation as one of Tuscany’s most exciting producers. The estate is now in the capable hands of Giacomo, Giovanni’s son, and has received a wealth of top scores and accolades from international wine critics. The estate’s philosophy focuses on producing the highest quality wines possible by using cutting edge technology to release the potential of their prime vineyards.
Giacomo’s delicious Irrosso is inspired by the classic light-hearted Italian “rosso” wines which are extremely drinkable and offer exceptional value for money. Made from the typical Tuscan black grape variety, the young wine is aged in oak barrels for 15 months to add complexity and subtle notes of toast and sweet spices.
On the nose there are enticing aromas of red cherries, juicy wild berries and sweet liquorice. The first sip reveals a medium body, bright freshness and distinctive earthy character with hints of cassis, dark chocolate, and smoke. The deep flavours and balancing acidity makes this an ideal partner for Italian pasta dishes served with a rich ragout sauce or a hearty venison stew.
