Sauvignon Blanc
Brendan Tracey Rue de la Soif Blanc 2020
Cellar for up to 4 years. Serve chilled.
Born to a French mother in New Jersey, Brendan Tracey fell in love with France while living with his aunt and studying at French high school. After spending most of the 1970s playing in punk banks in California, he eventually moved back to France permanently in 1980 and helped set up a radio station. It was only in 2010 that he started making his own wines which are heavily influenced by his punk rocker background.
Wherever possible Brendan tries to challenge traditional winemaking practices, creating novel and innovative expressions of the classic varieties of the Loire Valley where he is based. He makes his wines in an old tax collection barn, designs all the labels himself, and sources his organically-grown fruit from partner growers as well as his own vineyards.
Rue de la Soif is an elegant Sauvignon Blanc that is fermented using wild yeasts to allow the pure character of the variety to shine through. The wine is then bottled without clarification or filtering and with no added sulphites. It’s a fresh and zippy expression of the grape, with enticing citrus, orchard fruit and herbal notes which linger on the palate. A great match for seafood, grilled fish, or leafy summer salads and asparagus dishes.
