Founded in 2000, restoring a historic cellar located on the outskirts of Montevideo, the Bouza family winery is one of the most acclaimed ones in Uruguay. Their wines are produced with low yields and extreme care in the cellar under the guidance of the famous winemaker Eduardo Boido. Their grapes are sourced from the 5 vineyards of the estate, and the varieties grown are Tannat, the most representative Uruguayan grape, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Tempranillo, Riesling and Albarino.
The Chardonnay grapes come from the Pan de Azucar vineyard, located in the Maldonado department, a short distance from the ocean. Here, the vines enjoy a particular mesoclimate strongly influenced by the ocean and sea breezes, which mitigate temperatures favoring a slower evolution and ripening of the grapes. The soil, rich in calcium carbonate, has a substrate of crystalline igneous rocks with deposits of clayey silt. These conditions favor the production of wines with good acidity and great aromatic expressiveness.
The wine has a light and brilliant color with golden yellow tones. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of stone fruit, such as peach and apricot, sweet citrus fruits and pineapple, followed by some spicy notes. On the palate, it is generous and round with a marked acidic hint and some spicy hints. The finish is long and soft. Excellent with scallops, seafood risottos or white meat.
