Verdicchio di Matelica is a lesser-known white Italian grape, and the Bisci family is one of its proudest exponents. They occupy a 25-hectare stretch of land within the region of Marche - the only place in Italy where Verdicchio truly thrives. The Bisci winery was founded in 1972, by brothers Giuseppe and Pierino, and is continued today by Mauro and Tito, Giuseppe’s two sons.
Vigneto Fogliano is crafted from a careful selection of grapes, harvested from the estate’s oldest vineyard. On the nose, you can detect a bouquet of white flowers - lily, jasmine, and chamomile, followed by a blast of lemon rind, pear, green apple, tropical fruit, and white pepper. It has a notably fresh character, echoed by the tints of green that appear when you pour it into a glass.
On the palate, Vigneto Fogliano expands into a medley of summer fruit, complemented by hints of fresh herbs, mango, and minerality. The finish is long and laden with subtle almond notes. Before release, the wine was fermented and matured in concrete tanks, before a further 3 months of ageing in the bottle. It is a well-structured wine with plentiful acidity, making it an excellent pairing partner for white fish, lobster, or soft cheese.
Great choice of wines and very fast delivery.
