Hesiod referred to the famous wine region of Biblia Chora in his writings, and now thousands of years later that legacy lives on thanks to the modern winery founded in 1998 by talented winemakers Vangelis Gerovassiliou and Vassilis Tsaktsarlis. Set on the slopes around Mount Pangeon, the region was made famous by a special grape brought here by the Phoenicians from their home city of Byblos. Now Biblia Chora winery continues to impress the world with their stunning wines made from both local and international grape varieties.
This punchy red blend represents the modern side of Biblia Chora, being crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the very first vineyard planted on the estate. Once in the winery the grapes are macerated for a lengthy period and the resultant wine is aged in new French oak barrels for 16 months followed by another 24 months of bottle maturation.
In the glass you’ll immediately notice the deep inky hue and impressive aromas of crushed cassis, blackberry, tobacco leaf and cedar wood. The first sip reveals plenty of firm tannins, a full body, and a solid core of fruit which lingers on the palate. The power and balance of this red make it a great choice to cellar for a few more years or to serve now alongside game or red meat dishes.
