The hillsides around Mount Pangeon have been revered for their wines for thousands of years thanks to the Phoenicians who introduced a special grape variety here from their home port of Byblos. In 1998 talented winemakers Vangelis Gerovassiliou and Vassilis Tsaktsarlis came here and found the perfect site for a modern winery to continue this ancient legacy. Today they have some 65 hectares of organically-farmed vineyards which are planted both to Greek and international varieties.
This unusual red is crafted from an ancient unidentified variety found in Pangeon which DNA tests have shown is different from any other grape variety. The winery applies traditional winemaking techniques to create this wine and then ages the finished wine in oak barrels for 12 months.
Ideal for curious wine lovers looking to add another grape variety to their bucket list, this delicious red opens with delicate notes of rose petals, raspberries and cranberries. On the palate these fruity notes deepen into hints of plums and wild berries along with notes of dried Mediterranean herbs and sweet dark chocolate. A great wine to cellar for a few more years or enjoy now with roasted meats, mature cheeses, and rich stews.
Pas de problème particulier.
