Hand-picked Tempranillo grapes from the Finca La Planta estate undergo a light, six month aging in new French and American oak barrels to infuse elegance and maturity into this youthful, fruit forward wine.
Fresh aromas of bright red fruit, strawberries, cassis, sarsaparilla, and a hint of toasted cedar invite you to take a sip of this beautiful cherry red Tempranillo swimming with telltale layers of deep ruby complimented by the most delicate violet edge.
Ripe strawberry dominates the palate, tamed by notes of cassis and black currant that elegantly give way to the softer nuances of licorice and toasted spice for a spectacularly smooth and lengthy finish.
The velvety smoothness and mild acidity make this wine an ideal pairing for tapas of any kind, stewed vegetables, grilled mushrooms, semi-mature cheeses and small game (stewed or grilled).
La Planta Tempranillo has 14.5% ABV and should be served chilled between 14°C - 16°C.
Finca La Planta is located in Quintanilla de Onesimo, Valladolid in the D.O.P. of Ribera del Duero. The estate is 1400 hectares and is home to Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir vines that are over 20 years old, as well as 2,000 French and American oak barrels for aging on the premises. The Arzuaga family is dedicated to a never-ending search for quality wine and soil.
La Planta boasts Gold medals from the Baco Awards, Mundus Vini Awards and Bacchus Awards, and a Silver medal from the Cinve Awards.
