With a deep history dating back to 1831, Albert Bichot winery is one of the essential stops on a journey to the heart of Burgundy. Known far and wide for its exceptional quality wines, the winery is now in its sixth generation under the exemplary leadership of Albéric Bichot.
Over the years, Maison Albert Bichot has collected tracts of land in some of Burgundy’s most important appellations. These include Gevrey-Chambertin, Chablis, and the origin for this wine, the AOC appellation of Domaine du Pavillon, which lies between Pommard and Volnay. The fruits for this wine are grown on Middle Jurassic-era clay soil, in the Premier Cru vineyard of “Les Brouillards”.
These high-quality soils make for some truly excellent Burgundy Pinot Noir. “Les Brouillards” is bursting with scents of cherry, raspberry and delicate spices, such as cinnamon and star anise. On the palate, this is a seamless balance of softness and refreshing acidity. Look for flavours of black cherry, plum, and currant that are beautifully balanced by hints of vanilla and toasted oak. Time will reveal some further complexity, making it a wonderful match for flavourful cheeses. It will also be an excellent match for some rich yet refined dishes, along the lines of roasted quail, roast vegetables or lightly seasoned meats.
