Ca' Viola was founded by Giuseppe "Beppe" Caviola in 1991 when he first vinified grapes from his small vineyard in the village of Rodello in his family’s garage. Giuseppe had been fascinated by winemaking as a young boy, so it was only natural that he chose to study at the School of Enology in Alba. Following his graduation Giuseppe honed his skills by working at the Center for Enology at Gallo before deciding to start his own project in the 1990s. In 2002 Giuseppe was named "Enologist of the Year" by Gambero Rosso, Italy’s most important wine guide.
Giuseppe’s Langhe Nebbiolo is a blend from different vineyards in Montelupo Albese which sit at an average elevation of 550 metres, ensuring the grapes have a perfect balance of freshness and intense, concentrated flavours. The grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled tanks before being transferred to large oak casks for 15-17 months of maturation.
Deep red cherry, cigar box, and forest floor notes immediately captivate the nose while the palate offers a generous full body, rich texture, and long finish. The well-developed structure and firm tannins make this an excellent candidate for extended cellar ageing, and it is also delicious when drunk now alongside a prime steak or hearty ragu sauce with fresh pasta.
